Russian forces launched their most devastating attack on Kharkiv since the full-scale war began during the night of June 7th. The bombardment sparked fires, left casualties, and caused widespread destruction, according to Telegram posts from Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, Kharkiv Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov, and Ukraine's Emergency Services channel.

"According to preliminary reports, the Кгіішфт attack on Kharkiv has damaged 18 apartment buildings so far (with structural damage to three of them) and 13 private homes," Terekhov posted at 7:39 a.m. Kyiv time.

Damage and destruction by each district

The Kyivskyi and Osnovianskyi districts, as well as the outskirts of the city, were targeted by enemy drones, bombs, and missiles.

Kyivskyi district

"Preliminary reports show that 40 drones, 4 guided bombs, and 1 missile hit a civilian facility, sparking a fire covering 25,000 square feet. Four factory buildings took direct hits. People may be trapped under the rubble," Syniehubov posted around 7 a.m.

Additional drone strikes were recorded:

  • Hit a tree near a two-story residential building.
  • Struck a private home, causing a fire covering about 100 square feet.
  • Hit the ground, igniting an outbuilding covering about 100 square feet.

Osnovyanskyi district

A drone struck a 9-story apartment building here. Twelve apartments on the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors caught fire, with flames covering about 6,500 square feet.

"We pulled a woman from the rubble. Medics are treating the victim. Two cars also caught fire," the regional governor reported.

Kharkiv outskirts

"Also on the outskirts of Kharkiv, 3 Shahed-type drones hit an abandoned barn, and 5 drones struck open areas, causing fires. Fortunately, no casualties," Syniehubov reported.

Casualties

Around 7 a.m., it was confirmed that 17 people were injured in the enemy attack, including two children - a 14-year-old girl and a 1.5-month-old baby. One person was killed.

However, at 7:17 a.m., Terekhov reported that three people had died in the bombardment.
