In France today, September 10, large-scale protests began. They were organized by the Block Everything movement, which opposes the government's budget policy, BFMTV reported.

The Block Everything movement, created a few months ago on social networks, aims to block France by organizing a general strike in protest against the new budget proposals of former Prime Minister François Bayrou and the government.

Protest leader Mathilde Panot stated that in this way the protesters want to "push out" French President Emmanuel Macron.

Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau noted that the authorities mobilized 80,000 gendarmes and police officers.

Participants in the action are trying to block roads and railway stations. In the Paris region, protesters failed to paralyze transportation, but there are disruptions in the operation of certain metro lines and suburban trains.

As of now, it is known that law enforcement conducted 327 arrests across France. In Paris alone, there were 199 arrests.

In central Paris, shops and restaurants were closed on the streets where the column of demonstrators was passing. A fire broke out in one of the restaurants.

It is reported that in Bordeaux demonstrators smashed the window of a café. Meanwhile, in Nantes participants set fire to garbage bins in front of one of the hospitals.

New budget

Recently, the lower house of the French parliament passed a vote of no confidence in the government of François Bayrou.

The reason was the budget, which provided for spending cuts next year amounting to 43.8 billion euros. These results were planned to be achieved by freezing indexation.

French President Emmanuel Macron has already appointed former Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu as the new Prime Minister.
