Russia has been hit by a major digital outage, with users reporting widespread issues accessing GitHub repositories, Google Search, and Apple's official website, according to Habr.
GitHub blocked
The programming and engineering community has been hit the hardest. GitHub, the popular platform for hosting IT projects and collaborative software development, has become completely inaccessible in Russia through local internet providers.
The main consequences of the disruption include:
- The platform's official website fails to load and displays a connection error;
- Users are unable to connect to remote repositories;
- The Git command-line tool is completely blocked and cannot synchronize code.
According to GitHub's global status page, all of the platform's servers are operating normally, while the technical issues are affecting only users with Russian IP addresses.
Google restrictions and widespread issues with Apple's website
Alongside the disruption affecting the developer platform, users in Russia have also experienced major problems accessing Google's homepage and search engine.
At the same time, the company's other services, including Google Photos, Gmail, Google Play and Google Docs, continue to operate without additional restrictions.
Google's global service status page also shows that all of its services are fully operational worldwide.
In addition, Russia has reported widespread issues affecting Apple's online resources. The official Apple.com website has become inaccessible or fails to load due to critical errors experienced by customers of most major Russian internet providers.
At the same time, the US company's internal infrastructure remains fully operational. Apple's developer portal, Apple Developer, and the company's dedicated system status website remain fully accessible.
