A major disruption occurred at airports across Germany on Friday, January 3. The police's computer system for passenger checks at entry points ceased functioning, according to Bild.

A police spokesperson at Frankfurt Airport confirmed to Bild that a large-scale outage had taken place.

"Our colleagues are having to perform many tasks manually that the system previously handled. We are still working on resolving the issue," he said.

The cause of the outage remains unknown.

German media also reported long lines in the security area at Düsseldorf Airport, with some passengers waiting for up to two hours.

Airport officials noted that it is currently impossible to enter Germany from non-Schengen countries.
