Major air alert announced in Ukraine: Missile launches recorded
Russian strategic aviation launches long-range cruise missiles of the Kh-101/555/55 type by Tu-95MS strategic aircraft from the Caspian Sea. An air alert was declared in many regions of Ukraine, report the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine.
"Preliminary, missiles of the Kh-101/555/55 type were launched from Tu-95 from the Caspian Sea," the statement said.
The Ukrainian Air Force reports a missile threat in the areas where an alert has been declared.
"There is a threat of cruise missile launches from Tu-95MS aircraft. A total of 16 Tu-95MS strategic bombers are in the air," the statement said.

The Ukrainian Air Force reports missiles in the Sumy region, heading for Myrhorod.
Another missile is reported to be entering the Sumy region from the southwest.
The command also reported a missile from the south, in the direction of Kropyvnytskyi. And also about a missile in the area of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv region, heading west.
Nighttime drone attack in Ukraine
On the night of January 2, Russia launched several dozen attack drones into Ukraine.
An air alert was declared in Kyiv and a number of regions, and air defense forces were deployed. Later, explosions were heard in the capital.
The KCMA reported that the wreckage of the downed drones fell in two districts of the city. Fires broke out at the crash site.
The largest shelling of Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion
On Friday, December 29, the Russian invaders launched the largest-scale attack on Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war. A total of 158 enemy targets were fired at the country, including 87 cruise missiles and 27 attack UAVs. Air defense forces shot down 114 targets.
In many regions and settlements, houses and infrastructure were destroyed. Dozens of people were killed and injured.
