Madonna and Elton John end 20-year feud, eye future collaboration

Musicians Madonna and Elton John, who were in conflict for a long time, have officially ended their feud. After more than 20 years of disputes, not only have they reconciled, but they have also hinted at a possible joint creative collaboration, according to the singer’s Instagram post.
The conflict between Madonna and Elton John began back in 2002 when John criticized the singer’s song for the film Die Another Day, calling it “the worst Bond melody.” At the Q Awards ceremony in 2004, he declared, “Madonna – best live artist? Screw that!”
Since then, their relationship only became more strained, with the artists repeatedly exchanging sharp remarks. However, it was recently reported that the celebrities reconciled on the set of Saturday Night Live. “We finally buried the hatchet,” the singer wrote on her Instagram.

Madonna admitted that Elton John’s recent performance on SNL reminded her of how, in her youth, she was a huge fan of his work. “I had always felt like an outsider growing up and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different-to stand out- to take the road, less traveled by. In fact, it was essential,” she added.
In the same post, the star confessed that she regrets the way her relationship with her childhood idol unfolded. “I was told Elton John was the musical guest on SNL and I decided to go,” she shared.

In response to Madonna’s comments, Elton John expressed his thanks for her support during his performance. He also appreciated that the singer was able to forgive him for his “talkative language.” “I am grateful that we can move forward. It saddens me more and more how divided the world is today,” John wrote.
He added that both he and Madonna received support from communities facing dangers around the globe, and he expressed hope for future collaboration so they could do “great things” for those in need.
