Macron urges allowing Ukraine to strike Russia, with nuance
Ukraine should be allowed to launch strikes on Russian territory. However, this applies only to the objects from which the Russian army launches missiles, according to French President Emmanuel Macron.
"We must allow them to neutralize the military objects from which missiles are launched... Military objects from which Ukraine is attacked,” Macron said at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Strikes on Russian territory
Ukraine's allies, since the beginning of the war, provided weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces under the condition that they would not be used for strikes on Russia.
Recently, the situation has started to change. Some partners have allowed Ukrainian defenders to strike Russia.
In particular, the EU's chief diplomat, Josep Borrell, today, on May 28, stated that EU countries are lifting restrictions for Ukraine to strike Russia.
Additionally, Swedish Defense Minister, Paul Johnson, announced that his country is not against the use of Swedish weapons by Ukraine to strike Russian territory.
