Macron to try to convince Trump 'not to be weak' in front of Putin

French President Emmanuel Macron will meet with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, as early as next week. The French leader has revealed plans for the talks, BFMTV informs.
The French President confirmed that he will visit Washington in a few days. According to Macron, he knows Trump, and there is mutual respect between them.
The French leader added that he wants to convince the US President that his interests align with those of Europe, "no matter what he thinks."
"I will tell him: 'Deep down, you cannot be weak in front of Putin, that's not you, that's not your thing,'" Macron clarified.
Macron's visit to the US
Earlier, French Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad stated that French President Emmanuel Macron could meet with US President Donald Trump as early as Monday, February 24.
According to Haddad, the French leader wants to explain to his American counterpart that Ukraine's future cannot be decided without Europe.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will also visit Washington next week. According to media rumors, he is expected to present Trump with the idea of deploying European troops to Ukraine.
Notably, US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg recently stated that Europe may not be physically present at the negotiating table, but its interests will be taken into account.
