Macron's call with Putin

French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation for the first time in nearly three years.

One of the topics was Russia's war against Ukraine. Putin once again pushed the narrative that Western policies caused the conflict and claimed the war is continuing because of Western countries.

The French leader urged the Kremlin chief to immediately cease fire with Ukraine to begin talks on a lasting and sustainable peace.

Macron and Putin also discussed the war between Israel and Iran. They agreed that the conflict must be resolved diplomatically.

According to the Elysee Palace, the French President and the Russian leader agreed to continue their contacts.
