French President Emmanuel Macron delivered three key messages after arriving in Kyiv as part of the Coalition of the Willing. All of them focus on Ukraine, according to his X account.

"Returning to Kyiv, my first thoughts are with the Ukrainians. For over three years, you have resisted with admirable courage. For your land. For your freedom. For Europe. Because yes, the security of our continent is at stake here," he stated.

According to Macron, in the face of Russian aggression, the response must be collective, which is why he is making this trip together with Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom.

Macron’s Three Key Messages

Peace

According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the first message is peace – a just and lasting peace that begins with a full and unconditional ceasefire.

“This is a proposal that we are putting forward together with the United States. Ukraine accepted it on March 11. Russia, however, is stalling, setting conditions, buying time, and continuing its aggressive war,” Macron reminded.

He added that if Moscow insists on blocking the peace process, “we, as Europeans and in close coordination with the United States, will increase the pressure.”

“We welcome President Trump’s call to take this step. Our unity is our strength. This is also the purpose of this trip: we all want peace!” he concluded.

Sovereignty

As Macron stated, any peace agreement must ensure security.

“This is what we’ve been working on during meetings in Paris, London, and now in Kyiv. We are moving forward together,” he noted.

Future

Macron reminded that Ukraine is fighting not only for its people but also for the European ideal.

“But also for the European ideal that we believe in. A free, strong, prosperous, and European Ukraine – that is our horizon. History is watching us,” the French president concluded.

Arrival of the Coalition of the Willing leaders in Kyiv

On May 10, new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and French President Emmanuel Macron arrived for a visit to Kyiv.

It should be noted that London and Paris have taken the lead in forming the Coalition of the Willing – an alliance of countries ready to support Ukraine with troops and other assistance for peace.
