Europe will not deploy its troops to the front lines following a potential ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. The ceasefire will be monitored by other means, stated French President Emmanuel Macron, according to La Repubblica.

Macron stated that if Ukraine and Russia agree to a ceasefire, its observance will be monitored by Europe and the United States, particularly through satellite surveillance, to determine if there was a violation, where it occurred, and from which side.

"We do not believe the role of Europeans is to be on the front line," Macron added.

He also noted that the issue of a demilitarized zone would remain a subject of debate, particularly regarding the possible presence of UN forces.

However, Macron emphasized that the first guarantee of Ukraine’s security is a strong Ukrainian army.

Sending European soldiers to Ukraine

Only recently, French President Emmanuel Macron admitted that European countries could send their troops to Ukraine, but only under the condition that such forces would operate in strategically important areas far from the front lines.

Macron also emphasized that Europe would not be able to send hundreds of thousands of troops to Ukraine - the discussion is about a few thousand.

Currently, the possibility of deploying soldiers to Ukraine is being discussed by the Coalition of the Willing.
