Macron reveals first details of Ukraine talks with Rubio and Witkoff

French President Emmanuel Macron held a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The main topic of discussion was Russia’s war against Ukraine, according to the press service of the Élysée Palace.
According to the Élysée Palace, the parties primarily discussed peace negotiations aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Another topic was the work of the Coalition of the Willing, co-chaired by France and the United Kingdom, which held a session at the Élysée Palace on March 27.
Other topical issues were also discussed, including tariffs between Europe and the United States, as well as de-escalation in the Middle East.
In addition to Macron, Rubio, and Witkoff, the meeting was attended by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Emmanuel Bonne, the French President’s diplomatic advisor.
Rubio and Witkoff arrive in France
On April 17, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff arrived in Paris, where they will remain until April 18.
The Secretary of State and the Special Envoy are promoting Donald Trump’s peace initiative to resolve the war between Ukraine and Russia.
According to Macron, before meeting with the American officials, he held consultations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
