Over the past few days, many foreign leaders and officials have made reckless and inflammatory statements about the protests in France, French President Emmanuel Macron said this, according to BFMTV.
In the president's view, there was no obvious foreign interference in the protests in France.
Nevertheless, he noted instances in which the leadership of other countries manipulated the available data.
"This led to unacceptable and stupid comments from many people, including foreign leaders," Macron complained.
Against the backdrop of recent events, he recalled the widespread circulation of photos and videos generated by artificial intelligence.
"We saw images created by artificial intelligence. They depicted scenes that never took place in France," Macron added.
According to the president, criticism of the country by some people indicates their negative attitude toward France.
"These people irritate me!.. We have problems, but we will deal with them methodically, with respect, determination and firmness (...) but people should not say whatever they please," Macron urged.
He also added that on October 22, he would meet with representatives of the intelligence services, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu and the relevant ministers. The main goal is to obtain a detailed report on the demonstrations that took place on October 17.
US President Donald Trump linked the large-scale street protests in France to migration policy and urged Paris to "close its borders."
