Macron: 'Europeans will never abandon Ukraine'
Europeans will continue helping Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s invasion and will not abandon it. The security of Europe depends on this, stated French President Emmanuel Macron during an address to British lawmakers, Le Figaro reports.
The French leader emphasized that France and the United Kingdom must work together to protect effective multilateralism and the international order established after World War II.
He added that the United Kingdom and France should once again demonstrate to the world that their alliance is capable of making a difference.
Macron spoke in detail about London and Paris' joint support for Ukraine from the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion.
"I want to be clear, this is why, together with you, Mr. Prime Minister, we decided to launch last February this coalition. And this coalition was just a signal that Europeans will never abandon Ukraine. Never," Macron emphasized.
The security and principles of Europe, as well as the possibility of peace, are at stake, the President added.
France's aid to Ukraine
France is one of Ukraine's main allies. It has already provided Ukrainian soldiers with AMX-10RC light tanks, Caesar self-propelled artillery systems, and many other military vehicles.
On February 6 this year, it became known that Ukraine received the first Mirage 2000 fighter jets from France. They are already helping to protect Ukraine's skies from Russian attacks.
