Macron arrives at White House for negotiations with Trump

French President Emmanuel Macron is on an official visit to the United States. He arrived at the White House for negotiations with American leader Donald Trump, according to Reuters.
When Macron arrived at the White House by car, Trump did not meet him at the entrance. Instead, the French president was greeted by US Deputy Secretary of State Monica Crowley.
The agency clarified that during the meeting, Macron and Trump will most likely discuss the prospects for ending Russia’s war against Ukraine amid sharp differences in how to proceed.
Reuters noted that Macron is the first European leader to visit Washington for talks with Trump. The two leaders are scheduled to attend a G7 meeting, hold bilateral negotiations, and conduct a joint press conference at 2:00 PM local time (9:00 PM Kyiv time).
According to the publication, Macron may attempt to persuade Trump not to rush into a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine and not to make a deal at any cost.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is also expected to visit Washington this week. According to media rumors, he will present the American leader with a plan for deploying European troops to Ukraine.
