Macron, after summit in Paris, speaks with Trump and Zelenskyy: Details

French President Emmanuel Macron, following a meeting with leaders from several European countries in Paris, held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump, according to Macron's Twitter (X) account.
The French leader noted that after meeting with several European leaders, he reached out to Trump and then to Zelenskyy.
“We seek a strong and lasting peace in Ukraine. To achieve this, Russia must end its aggression, and this must be accompanied by strong and credible security guarantees for the Ukrainians,” Macron said in his post.
Otherwise, he added, there is a risk that the ceasefire will end up like the Minsk agreements.
“We will work on this together with all Europeans, Americans, and Ukrainians. This is the key,” the French president emphasized.
Macron also shared that the parties are convinced that Europeans must invest better, more, and together in their security and defense - both for today and for the future.
"TTo this end, Europeans want to accelerate the implementation of their own agenda for sovereignty, security, and competitiveness. Work will continue based on the European Commission’s proposals, both in supporting Ukraine and in developing and investing in our defense," he informed.
Macron also pointed out that this agenda, set out at the Versailles Summit in 2022, simply needs to be implemented.
"Decisions, actions, coherence. Quickly. I will continue these discussions in the coming days," the French president stated.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is currently on an official visit to Türkiye, shared details of his conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron following the European leaders' summit in Paris on the night of February 18. The parties, in particular, coordinated positions on security guarantees for Ukraine.
It should be noted that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte was also present at the meeting in Paris. After the summit in the French capital on February 17, he stated that Europe is ready to take the initiative in providing security guarantees for Ukraine.
Additionally, Western media reported that after the summit in Paris, a group of European leaders warned Ukraine against a ceasefire without a peace agreement.
