A Ukrainian serviceman reported on X (formerly Twitter) that his MacBook Air with an M1 chip took a hit from an artillery shell fragment, yet the device remained fully functional.

What is known

The soldier serves in the Azov Brigade. In his post, he shared images of the laptop showing significant mechanical damage to the body and screen. Despite this, the device continues to operate normally.

In a separate post, the serviceman also shared a video showing macOS booting up and running properly, even though the screen sustained severe damage and displays obvious defects.

It is noted that such situations, in which equipment is exposed to combat-related factors, remain rare and extreme. However, this incident has become yet another example of the durability of Apple devices.

Previously, in 2022, photos circulated online of an iPhone that, according to users, saved the life of a Ukrainian soldier by stopping a bullet. The MacBook Air story is less dramatic, but it also highlights the quality and reliability of the company’s products.
