Lviv rocked by explosions amid Russian multi-pronged strike

In Lviv, explosions were reported on the morning of Thursday, August 21, during Russia’s combined, large-scale attack, according to the Telegram channel of Lviv Regional Military Administration Head Maksym Kozytskyi and Suspilne.
Around 3:00 a.m. Kyiv time, an air raid alert was declared in Lviv and the surrounding region. At that time, Russian MiG-31K fighter jets were deployed, launching “Kinzhal” hypersonic missiles.
Simultaneously, the Air Forces reported strike drones moving toward Ukraine’s western regions.
By 4:17 a.m. Kyiv time, Kozytskyi reported that enemy strike drones had been detected in the Lviv region. A few minutes later, he warned about air defense activity in the region.
“Do not film anything or post anywhere,” he wrote.
Later, Suspilne reported explosions in Lviv.

Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi reported that air defense systems are active in the city.
"Explosions were heard in Lviv. It may have been air defense at work. We are clarifying the details. Two more Shahed drones are heading toward Lviv," he wrote.
Massive attack on the night of August 21
On the night of August 21, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine. So far, reports confirm the use of Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. In addition to Kyiv, explosions were reported in Chernihiv and Rivne regions.
