Luxembourg has joined the drone coalition initiative, which aims to boost the industrial production of FPV drones in Ukraine and the West, becoming the 17th partner in this coalition, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

As stated by Deputy Minister of Defense for Digitalization, Kateryna Chernohorenko, this initiative is designed to create a long-term technological advantage over the enemy.

The drone coalition was founded in February 2024 during the 19th meeting in the Ramstein format, initiated by Latvia and coordinated by the UK. Since then, Ukraine has received thousands of drones from partner countries.

The coalition has accumulated 50 million euros, which will be used to purchase between 20,000 and 30,000 additional drones. In September, Ukrainian manufacturers were given the opportunity to participate in international tenders to supply FPV drones and interceptor drones.

This year, Ukraine's allies established the Drone Coalition, aimed at supplying unmanned aerial vehicles to Ukrainian forces to protect against Russian aggression.

The coalition is led by Latvia and the UK. Latvia provides testing grounds and industrial facilities for drone testing, enabling continuous technological improvements.

For its part, the UK announced a competition for the development and procurement of first-person view (FPV) drones, with 265 applications already submitted.

The coalition’s partner countries have created a joint fund, which is used for the collective purchase of drones for Ukrainian defenders.
