Operations were suspended as a precaution to ensure the safety of passengers, crews, airport staff and aircraft.
The airport added that it continues to monitor the situation in coordination with authorities, air traffic services and airlines. Delays and disruptions may occur after operations resume as carriers return to their normal schedules.
Reuters says Prime Minister Luc Frieden told reporters on Saturday that his country had "confronted with something new for Luxembourg, the presence of potentially bigger drones in the Luxembourg airspace."
"We have observed this over the past few days, which led to the precautionary measure last night," he said.
Frieden met with a group of ministers and relevant authorities.
As previously reported, on the night of August 5, a drone carrying explosives was found at Leipzig Airport near a Ukrainian An-124 cargo plane, prompting the airport to temporarily suspend operations.
