Lukashenko makes cynical statement about nuclear strike
The self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said that Ukraine would be very happy if Russia used nuclear weapons. In this case, Russia and Belarus would be left without allies.
Speaking about the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region, Lukashenko said that Ukraine attempted to push Russia into asymmetric actions. In particular, to use nuclear weapons.
“The danger is that this escalation on the part of Ukraine is an attempt to push Russia into asymmetric actions. Let's say, for example, the use of nuclear weapons. I know for sure that Ukraine would be very happy if Russia or we used tactical nuclear weapons there. It would be happiness,” the Belarusian leader said.
Lukashenko added that in the event of the use of nuclear weapons, Russia and Belarus would be left without allies.
“Then, probably, we would hardly have any allies left. There would be no sympathetic countries left at all because they are immersed in what is happening,” Lukashenka said in an interview with Rossiya TV channel.
He also said that they have already formed a certain negative image of nuclear weapons. But Ukraine still wants to push them to use it.
“Secondly, it is a nuclear weapon. We have already formed a certain negative image of these nuclear weapons. They want to push us to use it,” he summarized.
In the same interview, Lukashenko said that Belarus had moved almost a third of its army to the border with Ukraine. This is due to the fact that there are allegedly more than 120,000 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, said that the situation on the border with Belarus has not changed. Ukrainian border guards have not recorded any movement of equipment or troops.
