Today, an explosion rocked the center of the temporarily occupied Luhansk. The incident reportedly killed the former head of the city, Manolis Pilavov, reports TASS.

About Pilavov

Manolis Pilavov was born on March 24, 1964. For many years, he held positions in the local government of Luhansk and was engaged in management activities in the municipal sector.

In 1990-1998, he headed the Housing Office No. 3 of the Leninsky District Housing and Maintenance Association, the Housing and Maintenance Associations of Kamianobrodsky and Zhovtnevy districts, and worked as Deputy Head of the Housing Department of the Luhansk City Executive Committee.

He was the General Director of Luhanskvoda.

He worked as Deputy Chairman of the Kamianobrodsky District Council of Luhansk, and later served as First Deputy Mayor of Luhansk.

In 2010, he was elected to the Zhovtnevyi District Council in Luhansk from the Party of Regions. In September 2014, Pilavov campaigned in the courtyards of Luhansk in support of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic and participated in public events organized by the occupation administration.

Since 2014, he has held the position of the Luhansk occupation administration.

The collaborator Pilavov has been on the wanted list since 2015.

He was charged with three articles:

  • Actions aimed at the violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order (seizure of state power);
  • encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine;
  • creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization.

In 2019, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against him for three years. Already on October 19, 2022, by a decree of the President of Ukraine, Manolis Pilavov was included in the sanctions list of the National Security and Defense Council as a person who directly or indirectly supported Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

As a reminder, a powerful explosion occurred in the temporarily occupied Luhansk this afternoon, July 3.

A two-story building in the city's central district was reportedly partially destroyed. Russian media, citing operational services, immediately reported one dead and one wounded. Meanwhile, the occupation authorities did not comment on the situation.
