Loud explosion heard in Kharkiv
On the night of September 23 to 24, a powerful explosion was heard in Kharkiv. At that time, air raid alerts were ongoing in the city and the surrounding region, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the monitoring channel Air Alarm Map.
"A strong explosion was heard in Kharkiv. Please be cautious," he wrote at 03:39.
Initially, the cause of the explosion was unclear. However, earlier at 01:13, the Ukrainian Air Force had warned of a threat of ballistic weapon use from the Belgorod region in areas where air raid alerts were in effect.
A few minutes after Terekhov's message, the air raid alert was lifted.
The Mayor of Kharkiv clarified that the impact was recorded in the Kyiv district of the city. Preliminary information suggests that it was a missile.
"There was a hit on open ground, and a fire is being extinguished by the State Emergency Service personnel. There have been no reports of casualties at this time," he wrote.
