Once you've lost weight and reached your desired goal, it's essential to maintain your new lifestyle to prevent the pounds from returning. Ukrainian fitness trainer Viktor Mandziak shared three key rules in an interview for those who want to keep their results for years to come.

Make your lifestyle your ally

"If you want to keep your results, you need to accept, perhaps a painful idea, that you'll have to change your lifestyle," he says.

You should learn not to force yourself to exercise but do everything you can to enjoy it. For example, try different types of sports and workouts until you find the ones you truly like.

Don't force yourself to eat super healthy food just for a while. Find healthy food that you genuinely love so you can eat it for life.

Watch your sleep routine

The second important factor, according to the expert, is proper sleep.

"Lack of sleep increases hunger, cravings for high-calorie food, lowers behavioral control, and negatively affects your muscles. Sleep according to a schedule, at the same time every day," advises the trainer.

Don't cut out delicious food

Mandziak emphasizes that healthy eating doesn't mean giving up your favorite foods.

You can eat any food. The fewer calories a food contains, the more of it you should eat. The more calories it has, the less of it you should eat.

"Follow this simple rule. And remember: what you do today, at this very moment, determines your future. Right now, through your behavior, you're either reinforcing old destructive habits or forming and strengthening new constructive ones," he concludes.
