Long battle ahead: Israel to escalate operation in Gaza Strip, Netanyahu says
Israel plans to intensify military actions in the Gaza Strip in the coming days. The war is far from over, states Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The head of the Israeli government visited the Gaza Strip, where Israel continues its operation against Hamas militants.
"We are not stopping, we are continuing to fight and we are deepening the fighting in the coming days, and this will be a long battle and it is not close to being over. We need patience, unity, and to stick to our mission," says Netanyahu at a meeting of the Likud faction meeting in Knesset.
The Prime Minister also specifies that he met with a brigade of reservists in the Gaza Strip. All soldiers requested one thing from him: "don’t stop and continue on until the end."
Background
Recall that Hamas militants invaded Israeli territory at the beginning of October. They killed and abducted both military personnel and civilians.
In response, Israel launched its operation against the terrorists. Currently, the IDF is conducting operations in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces have already taken control of Gaza—the largest city in the Palestinian enclave. They are currently advancing in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
Yesterday, on December 24th, Netanyahu declared an escalation of military actions in the Gaza Strip.
