Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys arrived in Kyiv today, June 9, for a visit. He was traveling by train during last night’s massive Russian attack, according to Budrys on Twitter (X).

"Today I am in Kyiv - a city scarred by war but unshaken in spirit. In recent weeks, Russia has ramped up its missile& drone attacks, targeting civilian infrastructure, homes& even hospitals. This morning, our train had to pass through the shower of missiles and drones striking the cities of Rivne and Dubno," the minister wrote.

He also recalled that just a few days ago, a Russian strike on Kharkiv killed and injured dozens of people, including children. The Foreign Minister emphasized that such attacks are not accidents, but deliberate acts of terror by which Russia seeks to break Ukraine’s will.

"But Ukraine stands firm, defending not just its territory, but the principles of freedom& democracy in Europe. In fact, Ukraine is defending Europe. In fact, Ukraine is defending Europe. Peace will not come through appeasement. The world must stay united in supporting Ukraine — militarily, economically, and politically," Budrys added.

Massive attack

On the night of June 9, the Russian army launched a record number of strike drones against Ukraine. A total of 479 drones were recorded.

The enemy also used four Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, ten Kh-101 cruise missiles, three Kh-22 missiles, among others, for the attack. In total, 499 missiles and drones were detected in Ukraine’s airspace.

One of the main targets of the enemy was the Rivne region.
