Lithuania to stop importing Russian liquefied gas in November
In Lithuania, a ban on the import of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) will come into effect starting in November, according to LRT.
Today, on October 26, the Seimas (the Lithuanian Parliament) approved amendments to the Natural Gas Law that include a ban on imports from Russia. 111 parliamentarians voted in favor, and 6 abstained.
Lithuania's Minister of Energy, Dainius Kreivys, stated that Russian LNG was delivered to Lithuania's regasification facilities from Poland through the Cryogas M&T Polska company.
However, the names of the companies that imported Russian LNG to Lithuania have not been disclosed yet.
The import of Russian LNG to Lithuania through the Klaipeda terminal was suspended in March 2022, and from April of this year, the import of Russian gas through pipelines was also halted.
Earlier, the head of Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, called for expediting the supply of ammunition to Ukraine.
