Large-scale power outages began on Sunday, 21 June. Settlements in the northwestern, central, and southern parts of Crimea were left without electricity.
Due to the power outage, pumping stations stopped operating, which also caused disruptions in water supply across the peninsula.
Shutdown schedules were also introduced in Sevastopol. In addition, in some cities and villages, it was decided to temporarily switch off street lighting.
How the blackout schedules work
On Monday, 22 June, the so-called occupation "authorities" in a number of cities and settlements published electricity outage schedules. The strictest restrictions are in place in Alushta, Dzhankoi, as well as in the Nyzhniohirskyi, Chornomorske, and Krasnoperekopskyi districts.
"Due to the difficult situation in the energy system of Crimea and Sevastopol, rolling power outages are in effect in our district according to the following schedule: 3 hours without electricity, 3 hours with electricity supply," the statement said.
In the Krasnoperekopskyi district and Alushta, on odd days, there is a fixed schedule: electricity is cut off from 00:00 to 03:00 am, then from 06:00 to 09:00 am, and so on.
In Sudak, residents will be left without electricity for up to three hours a day, although the exact timing of the outages has not been specified.
On the night of 21 June, explosions were reported in different parts of temporarily occupied Crimea, and traffic on the Kerch Bridge was temporarily suspended. Thick black smoke was seen in the area of the seaport, rising from the site of a fire.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed details of the overnight operation. He said Ukrainian forces struck targets on both sides of the Kerch Bridge, located about 300 km from the line of contact.
