Large fire erupts near new Russian military base in Mariupol
On August 4, a large-scale fire broke out in Mariupol. The blaze erupted near the area of a newly established military base by the occupying forces, according to the Telegram channel of Mariupol Mayor's advisor, Petro Andryushchenko.
The Mariupol Resistance reports that the fire near the new military base in the "Khladokombinat" area was not accidental," Andryushchenko stated.
According to the mayor's advisor, the fire is visible across the entire city.
"There haven’t been any detonations or explosions yet, but the Russians are quickly evacuating," Andryushchenko added.
Situation in Mariupol
Russian forces captured Mariupol in the Donetsk region during Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
It has recently come to light that the occupiers employed a tactic of starvation during the capture of Mariupol.
Since then, the invaders have filled the city with military bases, warehouses, and personnel, all of which are continuously funneled to the front lines.
Recently, the occupiers opened the railway in Mariupol, which will shorten the logistical route by nearly 300 km.
