EU representative Kaja Kallas and the foreign ministers of EU countries will arrive in Kyiv on March 31, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The visit of the European delegation coincides with the anniversary of the liberation of the Kyiv region from Russian occupation. The Foreign Minister emphasized that choosing this date is a deliberate step to honor the memory of the victims of the aggression.
"The date is symbolic. We will commemorate the grim anniversary of the Bucha massacre and reaffirm commitment to holding Russian criminals accountable for this and other atrocities," Sybiha emphasized.
Priorities of the talks
In addition to the legal aspects of holding Russia accountable, diplomats will focus on practical support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war. The sides will discuss expanding military assistance and coordinating steps to ensure long-term peace on the continent.
"We will also discuss the EU’s support for Ukraine, pressure on Russia, and efforts to achieve peace and protect long-term stability in Europe," the minister added.
Andrii Sybiha thanked Kaja Kallas and his European colleagues for accepting the invitation to visit the Ukrainian capital.
Andrii Sybiha’s diplomatic activity
Ukrainian diplomacy has recently stepped up efforts to sever ties with Russia and strengthen strategic partnerships with the West.
In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine recently terminated 116 international agreements concluded with Russia, Belarus, and within the CIS framework. According to the Foreign Minister, Ukraine is finally breaking with its Soviet legacy to eliminate everything that weakens it.
In addition, on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in France, Andrii Sybiha held talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The sides discussed increasing pressure on Russia as a key factor in ending the war, as well as the situation in the Middle East.
