What the Russians are attacking with
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, starting from late evening on March 13, the Russian army launched a group of drones at Ukraine. The first ones were recorded in the Mykolaiv region.
All others were after the first hour of the night on March 14. Specifically, in the Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions, and closer to 4:00 a.m., a large number were already in the Kyiv region.
Starting at 3:05 a.m. Kyiv time, the Russian units carried out several series of ballistic missile launches. The missiles came from different directions, and all were aimed at the capital. Almost an hour later, more missiles were again fired at the capital. Incidentally, during this interval, missiles were launched from the south, and according to monitoring channels' assumptions, these could have been Zircon missiles.
Around the time of the first ballistic launches on Kyiv, monitoring channels warned that the Russians had deployed Kalibr cruise missile carriers into the Black Sea. At 3:42 a.m. Kyiv time, the Ukrainian Air Force officially reported the launches. By 4:13 a.m., the first Kalibr missiles entered Ukraine through the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
Furthermore, on the night of March 13-14, the Russian units sent Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers into the sky. Almost immediately after the Kalibr launches, the Air Force confirmed information about cruise missile launches from the bombers. In the morning, at 4:25 a.m., the first missiles began entering Ukraine through the Sumy region.
Preliminarily, most targets are heading toward Kyiv. At the same time, after detecting missiles launched from the Tu aircraft, monitoring channels reported the likely takeoff of MiG-31Ks, which carry Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles. Immediately after that, an air alert was issued nationwide.
Which cities came under Russian attack
Kyiv
Preliminarily, Russia's main target was Kyiv. The enemy struck the capital with ballistic missiles after 3:00 a.m. and around 4:00 a.m. Local authorities confirmed this and provided information on the operation of air defense systems.
Furthermore, preliminarily, almost all drones are heading specifically towards Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
Whether there are any consequences is currently unknown.
Sumy
In Sumy, explosions were heard several times at approximately 1:15 a.m. This occurred when the military recorded a group of enemy drones over the region. There was no information on the consequences.
Zaporizhzhia region
According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Mykhailo Fedorov, the Russian forces attacked the Zaporizhzhia region at night. He did not specify which exact locality, but a house in the city was damaged. In addition, people were injured.
"The Russian units attacked the Zaporizhzhia region - a private house was damaged. A fire broke out, which was extinguished by emergency services. A 35-year-old woman, a 40-year-old man, and two children - a 16-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy - sustained injuries," he reported.
There was no information about other possible consequences.
Attacks on Ukraine
The last combined strike on Ukraine occurred exactly one week ago, on the night of March 7. Moreover, the enemy used ballistic weapons for the strikes on Kyiv and Kharkiv.
Kyiv endured that night with fewer losses, as the main consequences were in Kharkiv. In particular, an enemy missile hit a five-story residential building directly, resulting in part of the building being destroyed.
