Kyiv residential complex torn apart by Russian strike - Photo report from the ground

In the early hours of July 21, Russia launched a combined attack on Kyiv, using both drones and missiles. As a result of the enemy strike, fires broke out in residential buildings.
RBC-Ukraine arrived at the scene and documented the aftermath in a photo report.
Late at night, residents of the capital heard the first loud explosions, which continued for several hours. Air defense systems were actively engaged over the city.
On the morning of July 21, a fire broke out on the second and third floors of a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, one person was injured and received medical assistance on-site.
Later, Pavlo Petrov, spokesperson for the Kyiv State Emergency Service, clarified that the fire was caused by a direct hit.
The blaze covered about 150 square meters. Emergency crews were able to localize and extinguish the fire. One person was rescued.
Additionally, balconies of other buildings in the Shevchenkivskyi district also caught fire.
Rescue teams and municipal services are currently working at the scene. Traffic in some areas of the district is temporarily restricted.
Attack on Kyiv
During the night of July 21, Russia launched a massive, combined assault on Kyiv, deploying attack drones and missiles.
An air raid alert sounded in the capital around 11:00 p.m. on July 20, as drones were already being detected over the Kyiv region and warnings were issued about the likely operation of air defense systems.
The first powerful explosions were heard in Kyiv around 1:30 a.m. For several hours, blasts echoed across the city and surrounding areas as the Ukrainian Air Forces repelled another aerial attack.
According to available data, the consequences of the strikes were recorded in at least six districts of the capital: Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, Obolonskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi. The hits caused fires in both residential and non-residential buildings, on rooftops, in warehouses, as well as on the grounds of a kindergarten and commercial facilities.
In Shevchenkivskyi district, a residential building was hit, injuring one person and prompting the rescue of another. In Darnytskyi, garages, a kindergarten, and a supermarket caught fire. In Dniprovskyi – shops; in Solomianskyi – a non-residential building; in Obolonskyi – a cottage complex; and in Sviatoshynskyi – debris caused fires.
