Kyiv repelled attack by Shahed drones, falling debris caused fire
In Kyiv, air defense systems were activated for the second time in a night due to an enemy attack using Shahed-type kamikaze drones. As a result of debris falling in one of the city’s districts, a fire broke out, which has since been extinguished, according to Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The administration reported on the combat efforts to repel the enemy air attack at 3:37 AM Kyiv time.
"Air raid alerts continue in Kyiv due to the threat of strike drones deployed by the Russian Armed Forces. Air defense systems are active in the capital and the surrounding region, on the approaches to Kyiv," the announcement from the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) stated.
Residents were also urged to remain in shelters until the air raid alert was lifted.
Later, details about the consequences of the enemy attack emerged. According to the head of the KCMVA, fragments of an enemy aerial target were reported to have fallen in the Darnytskyi district.
"As a result of today's nighttime drone attack by the Russian army on Kyiv, debris has been recorded in the capital. In particular, in the Darnytskyi district, fragments of downed enemy drones caused a fire in open areas of trees and grass," the official's statement noted.
He added that the fire was promptly extinguished, and there were no reports of possible casualties.
Shahed drone attack on the night of October 25
Last night, on October 24, the Air Force detected the launch of a group of strike drones by Russian forces towards Ukraine. Due to the threat of Shahed drone attacks, air raid alerts were declared in several regions.
The alert about the threat of air attacks was also sounded in the capital, occurring just before midnight. It was reported that explosions could be heard in Kyiv amid the drone assault.
Additionally, air defense systems were active in the Kyiv region, where enemy strike drones were detected in the sky. Later, it became known that a drone attack had been repelled in the Lviv region.
Around 3:10 AM, air raid alerts were declared again in Kyiv, linked to the detection of approaching enemy kamikaze drones.
