Kyiv hit in morning attack - Houses ablaze and casualties confirmed

Russian forces again attacked Kyiv in the morning of October 22. The drone strike caused fires across the city, and casualties have been reported, according to Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Starting around 5 AM Kyiv time, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Kyiv. The aftermath has been recorded in at least four districts: Dniprovskyi, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, and Pecherskyi. In the first three, residents have called for medical assistance.
First consequences of attack
Dniprovskyi district
According to Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko, a fire broke out between the 8th and 9th floors of a residential building as a result of the attack.
Later, he reported that one person had been killed.
At 6:05 AM Kyiv time, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the fire was contained and 10 people had been rescued, confirming the death of one person.
At 6:45 AM, Vitali Klitschko summed up the preliminary consequences of Russia's attack and reported that in the Dniprovskyi district:
- Drone debris hit the 6th floor of a 16-story residential building, causing a fire. One person was killed, and about ten people were rescued.
- At another address, debris fell in the courtyard of a residential building without causing a fire.
- The blast wave damaged the windows of a residential building.
Darnytskyi district
Tkachenko said there were two affected sites in the Darnytskyi district: a fire in a residential building and another in a non-residential facility.
Klitschko added that drone debris fell on an unfinished building in the area.
At 06:45 Kyiv time, the mayor clarified that in the Darnytskyi district, there were:
- Drone debris strikes on the territory of an enterprise, causing a fire in a two-story building and a hangar;
- Another strike hit a 17-story residential building, with a fire breaking out on the 14th–15th floors.
The mayor added that all emergency services are working on site.
Desnianskyi district
Tkachenko noted that a drone fell in an open area, causing no casualties, while Klitschko reported that debris caused a fire in a 10-story residential building.
Pecherskyi district
Preliminary reports indicate that drone fragments hit a residential building in the Pecherskyi district.
At 06:40, Klitschko reported that in the Pecherskyi district, a piece of a missile fell, causing a fire. The fire has now been extinguished
Casualties
At least one person was confirmed dead in the Desnianskyi district.
"The number of dead in the capital has risen to two. My condolences to their families and loved ones," Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration said at 06:42 AM Kyiv time.
