The enemy attacked the capital on the night of February 26, and explosions were heard. Later, information emerged about fires on the территории a private estate and a private house in different districts of Kyiv, according to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, on Telegram.

At first, Vitalii Klitschko wrote about explosions in Kyiv and the operation of air defense systems. The Ukrainian Air Force continuously warned about aerial threats both over the capital and the region, especially on the outskirts of the city.

Later, Tkachenko reported a drone and missile attack.

“The enemy is attacking the city with strike UAVs and ballistic missiles. Air defense is operating. Stay in shelters until the all-clear is given!” the official reported.

Later, it was preliminarily reported that a fire broke out on the territory of a private estate in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. Tkachenko also wrote that a two-story private house was burning in the Pecherskyi district. Information about casualties is currently unknown.

In the early morning, the Ukrainian Air Force reported drones heading toward Vyshhorod, Vasylkiv, Boryspil, and several other towns near Kyiv. The threat also concerned the capital itself.

Massive attack on Ukraine on February 26

As for the whole of Ukraine, as of 5:30 a.m. Kyiv time, the missile and drone threat remained. It should be noted that overnight, Russia carried out a large-scale combined strike on many cities, including Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, Poltava, and Zaporizhzhia.

The consequences of the Russian shelling are also severe: for example, in Zaporizhzhia alone, two shopping centers were damaged at once, one of which — Epicentr — caught fire. There were also reports of burning cars, residential buildings, and strikes on infrastructure facilities.
