Emergency in the energy sector due to previous attacks
As a result of the previous two Russian attacks on Kyiv, combined with severe cold, the city's electricity situation has significantly worsened. For almost a week, emergency power outages have been in effect without a fixed schedule. In addition to electricity problems, water and heating disruptions have also been reported. Due to prolonged outages, hundreds of buildings in Kyiv have been left without heat for several days.
Against this background, last week, Ukraine declared a state of emergency in the energy sector. In Kyiv, a headquarters has been established to deal with the consequences of the emergency, and additional Points of Invincibility (heating centers) have been set up across the city. The curfew has also been relaxed to allow residents to access these heating points 24/7.
