On the night of June 23, Russia carried out a combined attack on Kyiv and also targeted the Kyiv region. The shelling resulted in fires, damage to buildings and vehicles, and injuries, according to the Telegram channels of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, and the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk.

Main takeaways:

  • The primary targets of Russia were Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
  • The enemy carried out a combined attack, launching missiles twice.
  • Many districts of Kyiv were affected, with five people reported injured.
  • In the Kyiv region, damage was recorded in three districts, and one woman was killed.

Starting on the evening of June 22, a large number of Shahed drones were detected in Ukraine’s airspace. It was later officially confirmed that the main target of Russia’s attack that night was the capital.

At 23:53 Kyiv time, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv, followed by multiple series of explosions. Later, at 02:40, the enemy launched ballistic missiles, which caused powerful explosions. Toward morning, around 04:00, more explosions were heard in Kyiv amid reports of high-speed targets.

As a result of the shelling, fires, damage to buildings, vehicles, and one of the metro station exits, as well as injuries, have been reported - not only in the capital but also in the surrounding region. More details on the consequences of the attack are provided below.

Kyiv

Holosiivskyi district

As of 03:30, two cars and a business center were reported damaged in the Holosiivskyi district. Preliminary information indicates there were no fires or casualties.

A two-story residential building was damaged. No fire and, preliminarily, no injuries.

Solomianskyi district

In the Solomianskyi district, numerous explosions were heard - at least several loud blasts. The consequences of the attack were recorded at a minimum of five locations.

Among the damaged sites are a business center and an educational institution. A significant number of windows were shattered.

“At one address in the Solomianskyi district, a fire on the roof of a business center has been extinguished; at another, a fire broke out in a four-story office building covering an area of 800 square meters. Firefighting efforts are ongoing,” the State Emergency Service reported.

Sviatoshynskyi district

In this district, damage was reported at at least four locations. Debris fell on a stadium, a fire broke out near a residential building, and a non-residential facility was damaged.

By 04:25, it was confirmed that three people were injured in the Sviatoshynskyi district. Due to falling debris, cars in the area caught fire.

Separately, Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko reported that during the Russian attack, one of the exits of the Sviatoshyn metro station was damaged, along with the nearby bus stop.

He clarified that two people were injured at the location. They received medical assistance on site and were not hospitalized.

“The Russians’ style is unchanged - they strike where people might be. Ordinary people, hiding from the shelling. The entire enemy technological machine is not aimed at military advantage, but at killing civilians. Residential buildings, shelter exits - that is the Russian style,” he emphasized.

“The exit №8 from the Sviatoshyn metro station — leading to Chornobayivska Square (Heroes of Brest), toward the bridge — is temporarily closed,” the Kyiv City State Administration reported.

They confirmed that the station’s infrastructure was damaged due to the Russian attack. However, all other entrances and exits are operating normally. The station’s schedule remains unchanged, and the metro is functioning without interruptions.

Shevchenkivskyi district

“A multi-apartment building is on fire in the Shevchenkivskyi district. We are verifying information about casualties,” Tkachenko wrote at 04:29.

Additionally, a fire broke out involving cars in the building’s courtyard.

Using an aerial ladder and a three-section ladder, residents are being evacuated from the building. So far, seven people have been rescued, including one pregnant woman.

Podilskyi district

“There is also a fire in a non-residential building in the Podilskyi district,” Klitschko reported as of 04:30.

Tkachenko also noted that a car caught fire in the district due to the Russian attack. This update came precisely as the enemy launched another round of missile strikes on Kyiv, early in the morning.
