Russia attacked Kyiv and Poltava with ballistic missiles on the night of June 18, with several explosions heard in the cities as of 1:30 a.m. Kyiv time, according to posts by Kyiv Regional Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko and Suspilne.

"The enemy is attacking the capital with ballistic missiles. Stay in safe places until the all-clear is given," the head of the regional military administration wrote.

Regarding Poltava, media reported six explosions in the regional center, and at 1:24 a.m. the Air Force reported additional missile launches targeting the Poltava region.

The Air Force military reported a ballistic threat from the north around midnight. Prior to that, a drone threat was announced in several regions, along with guided bomb launches targeting Zaporizhzhia.

Previous massive attack on Kyiv

On June 15, Russia carried out nighttime terror on the capital, launching 60 missiles and attack drones. During the attack, the enemy deliberately struck the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, causing a fire.

In addition, many fires were recorded in Kyiv, and civilian infrastructure was damaged – residential buildings were burning, some of which sustained destruction. Fires also engulfed shops, warehouses, non-residential buildings, cars, and other structures.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the massive Russian strike on Ukraine on the night of June 15 was not accidental. According to him, it is linked to US President Donald Trump's birthday.
