Terrorist attack in Türkiye
On October 23, news broke of a terrorist attack at the defense enterprise TUSAŞ (Türk Uçak Sanayii Anonim Ortaklığı) in the Turkish province of Ankara. According to local media reports, an explosion first occurred near the entrance gates of the facility, followed by gunfire.
TUSAŞ is Türkiye's largest manufacturer of aerospace technology, specializing in the development of training aircraft, combat, and civilian helicopters. Among the company’s projects is the first domestically produced Turkish fighter jet, KAAN.
Later, Turkish Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that five people were killed and another 22 were injured as a result of the attack. He also reported that two attackers had been neutralized.
The minister added that the criminals were likely affiliated with the PKK, which is banned in Türkiye.
