The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, refused to comment on reports about an allegedly reached energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, citing Russian media.

“No, I can’t comment on this yet,” Peskov said in response to a question about possible agreements to refrain from strikes on energy infrastructure facilities.

He emphasized that at present, the Kremlin has no information it could publicly confirm.

Today, January 29, information spread online — including in Russian public channels — claiming that Russia had been banned from striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Later, statements appeared saying that the same ban also applies to strikes on Russian territory.

“It seems the energy ceasefire is in effect on both sides. We’ll see how they'll stick to it,” said Kostiantyn Nemichev, founder of the Kraken Regiment.

Ukrainian Telegram channels reported that there is currently no final decision on halting strikes on energy facilities between the countries. For this reason, all Ukrainians were urged to remain vigilant.

The Financial Times recently reported that Ukraine and the United States are preparing to propose an energy ceasefire to Russia during the next round of peace talks in Abu Dhabi.

The media noted that the proposal would involve Moscow halting strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities, while Kyiv would stop attacks on Russian oil refineries and shadow fleet tankers.
