Kremlin confirms resignation of Putin ally Kozak

The Kremlin has confirmed the resignation of Dmitry Kozak, deputy head of the Russian president's administration. He allegedly left his post of his own accord, according to Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
“I can confirm that Dmitry Nikolayevich Kozak has resigned. Of his own accord,” Peskov said.
He added that the decree on Kozak's resignation has not yet been made public.
Kozak's dismissal
Earlier, information about Dmitry Kozak's dismissal appeared online.
On August 10, The New York Times wrote that former curator of the occupied Donbas Dmitry Kozak, in a private conversation with Putin, acknowledged that the invasion of Ukraine was a mistake. After that, his influence in the Kremlin significantly decreased, and key positions gradually passed to another high-ranking official, Sergey Kiriyenko.
ISW, citing media reports, writes that Kozak acted as a mediator in reaching an agreement with Ukraine at the beginning of the war that would have prevented Ukraine from joining NATO, but Putin rejected it because he wanted to annex Ukrainian territory.
