Ukrainian defenders continue to control most of Kupiansk. Russia’s latest claims that the city has been captured are fake, according to the Joint Forces Group.

The Joint Forces emphasized that the situation on the Kupiansk axis remains stable:

  • Most of the city of Kupiansk is under Ukrainian control. Small groups of Russian invaders are holding positions in the northern districts.

  • The Russian leadership is still made up of pathological liars.

Fighting in Kupiansk

Earlier, on November 20, Russian leader Vladimir Putin fantasized that Russian troops had supposedly managed to block up to 15 Ukrainian battalions in Kupiansk.

Meanwhile, the chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, claimed that Kupiansk had been liberated.

Later, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, commenting on these fabrications, said that the scale of lies coming from the Russian leadership is "astonishing". He noted that only about 40 Russian radio subscribers were recorded in Kupiansk.

The Russian fabrications continued yesterday, November 1. Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov again stated that the “defeat of Ukrainian forces” in the Kupiansk area was ongoing.

Meanwhile, yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that almost all Russian troops had been cleared out of Kupiansk. According to him, Ukraine’s defenders are achieving the greatest success specifically on the Kupiansk axis.

This is not the first time Russians have spread obvious fakes about their supposed successes on the front. Recently, Putin even claimed that fighting was taking place in Komsomolsk — a settlement that does not exist in the part of the Donetsk region controlled by Ukrainian forces.
