On Thursday, King Charles III experienced "temporary side effects" following cancer treatment. He was taken to the hospital for observation, after which he returned to his residence in London, according to The New York Times.

Buckingham Palace stated that after the temporary hospitalization, the 76-year-old king returned to his London residence, Clarence House. At the same time, his public engagements for Friday were canceled as a precautionary measure.

In February 2024, the king announced that he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and had been undergoing treatment since then. However, the palace did not clarify the nature of the side effects, only stating that they were temporary and "required a short period of observation in the hospital."

No updates were provided regarding the prognosis or the nature of the treatment. The NYT reported that the British king's cancer was detected during an operation to remove an enlarged prostate in February of the previous year. The palace stated that Charles III does not have prostate cancer but did not provide any further details about his illness.

The publication also noted that in recent months, Charles III returned to a full schedule, receiving foreign leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Additionally, he visited the aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales.
