Charles III turns 76: How British monarch looks today as he figths cancer

On November 14, Britain's King Charles III celebrates his 76th birthday, continuing his battle with cancer, and on the occasion, Buckingham Palace unveiled a new official portrait of the monarch.

About Charles III's illness
His Majesty was diagnosed with early-stage cancer in February of this year, following surgery related to an enlarged prostate. Although Buckingham Palace officially announced the illness, it did not specify the exact type of cancer the eldest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II is facing.
Royal experts occasionally comment on the monarch's condition, and it was previously reported that, a few months after the diagnosis was confirmed, the king gradually began resuming his official duties.
For instance, he has already made several international visits, including a trip to Australia and Samoa in October. Doctors have allowed Charles to pause his treatment, but upon his return home, he is expected to resume the necessary procedures.

About Charles III's reign
He ascended the throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8, 2022, after reigning for 70 years and seven months — the longest of any British monarch.
As for Charles, he has taken on responsibilities on behalf of the Queen and the Commonwealth countries and continues to carry them out. In 1976, Charles founded The Prince's Trust and is a patron, president, or member of over 400 other charitable organizations.
He continues to raise public awareness about organic farming and climate change, earning awards and recognition from environmental groups for these efforts. His support for alternative medicine, including homeopathy, has drawn criticism from some medical professionals.
Charles's views on the role of architecture in society and the preservation of historic buildings have received significant attention from British architects and design critics. Additionally, since 1993, the monarch has been working on Poundbury, an experimental new town developed according to his architectural principles.

Monatch's stance on war in Ukraine
From the outset of the full-scale invasion, Charles III condemned Russian aggression against Ukraine. He expressed support for Ukrainians in a public speech. Furthermore, in April 2022, the monarch met with Ukrainian refugees who had fled to the United Kingdom amid the war.
