Kherson left without electricity
Kherson was left without electricity on the morning of Wednesday, October 16, and the cause of the outage is still being determined, according to Roman Mrochko, the head of the Kherson City Military Administration.
"There is no electricity in Kherson. Preliminary reports suggest the entire city is without power. The reasons are being clarified. Stay tuned for updates," he said.
On Tuesday, October 15, all trolleybuses in Kherson stopped running. The cause was shelling by Russian occupiers, which damaged the contact network, cutting lines in several places.
However, within a few hours, electric transport services were restored in the city.
Energy system situation
Ukraine is on the brink of the heating season. Energy workers are wrapping up the largest repair campaign in history, but the enemy continues to shell energy infrastructure.
Additionally, the first frosts are expected in Ukraine soon. Energy officials predict that this will not lead to power outages.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine has stocked up 12.2 billion cubic meters of gas and 3.1 million tons of coal ahead of the heating season. He said that this should be enough for the winter.
