Attacks on Kharkiv
Kharkiv was one of the main targets of a massive overnight attack on February 3. A man-caused emergency situation has been declared in the city.
As a result of the strikes, the TPP-5 (thermal power plant), as well as the key electrical substations Kharkivska and Zaliutyne, suffered severe damage. According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, due to critical damage and extreme cold down to −25°C (−13°F), authorities decided to drain the heating systems to prevent pipes from collapsing.
Nearly 105,000 residents of the city remain without heating. Heat supply has been cut to 929 facilities, including 853 residential buildings.
