In Kharkiv, a Shahed-type attack drone struck a children’s sanatorium, causing a fire. The incident occurred in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city, according to a post by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

“A Shahed hit a children’s sanatorium in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. There is a fire on site,” the mayor wrote.

Earlier, he had reported that a large number of enemy attack drones were being observed in the Kharkiv region.

What is known about the enemy attack on Kharkiv

Explosions were heard in Kharkiv on the night of January 13, as the Air Forces reported the movement of a large number of drones in the region. Mayor Ihor Terekhov urged residents to remain in shelters until the all-clear was given.

The outskirts of Kharkiv were also attacked that night, resulting in a fire. The strike occurred after warnings that high-speed targets were approaching the city, following earlier ballistic threats in several regions.

As a result of the enemy attack, two people were killed, and several others were injured. One person suffered an acute stress reaction, while others are receiving medical care.

Russia regularly targets civilians in Kharkiv and the surrounding region, as well as critical infrastructure. The aim is to pressure Ukraine into surrendering or making territorial concessions, including the surrender of the Kharkiv region - a key priority for Moscow.

Ukrainian authorities remain uncompromising on this matter. Even in the initial US-proposed version of a peace plan, which suggested that the Kharkiv region could come under Russian control, this option was not considered.

Heavy fighting continues in many settlements across the Kharkiv region, with the Ukrainian Defense Forces refusing to yield and defending every kilometer of Ukrainian territory.
