Kellogg answers whether Ukraine could face Vietnam-style scenario

Trump’s Special Envoy, Keith Kellogg, stated that without China’s support, Russia would not be able to continue the war, and Ukraine would ultimately endure and avoid a Vietnam scenario, according to his statement during the YES 2025 Annual Conference organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
Keith Kellogg emphasized that despite the prolonged conflict, Ukraine is capable of preserving its statehood and resisting external threats.
Kellogg compared potential war scenarios with the historical experience of the US in Vietnam, noting that Ukraine has significantly stronger internal resilience and international support.
The Special Envoy noted that he had seen Ukrainians during the alert in the metro, and that they had not huddled together but had proudly sung the national anthem. He added that this was unique and showed that Ukraine could not disappear as a state.
Key characteristics of a Vietnam scenario
The term originates from the Vietnam War (1955–1975), when the US, despite having significant military superiority, failed to defeat North Vietnam and nationalist forces, resulting in a political defeat and massive losses.
In the modern context, for example, regarding Ukraine, a Vietnam scenario refers to the risk of a prolonged conflict with exhausting losses and potential demoralization, even if the country has a strong army or international support.
It should be recalled that Trump’s Special Envoy, Keith Kellogg, believes that if China stopped supporting Russia, the war in Ukraine could end as early as tomorrow.
