Kallas says Trump's 50-day ultimatum to Russia too long

US President Donald Trump gave Russian President Vladimir Putin too much time before imposing secondary tariffs on Russia, said EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, according to The Telegraph.
Kallas called it a very positive sign that President Trump is taking a tough stance on Russia.
"On the other hand, 50 days is a very long time if we see that they are killing innocent civilians every day," she noted.
Trump's threats
On July 14, US President Donald Trump announced that he would impose 100% secondary tariffs on Russia if a peace agreement with Ukraine is not reached within 50 days.
He later explained that he had decided to take tough measures against Russia because Russian President Vladimir Putin had already violated four previous agreements.
According to experts quoted by RBC-Ukraine, even the threat of sanctions against Russia effectively acts as a form of sanction.
In their view, Russia will be forced to offload goods to its allies at steep discounts.
