The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, states that the countries of the European Union are working on the next 19th package of sanctions against Russia. In general, several options of economic restrictions are being considered, according to PAP.

"There are several options on the table. Of course, the most harmful for the Russians will be sanctions in the energy sector. Also, all secondary sanctions, which, for example, were introduced by the Americans. Also, a blow to financial services, which would hinder their access to capital, which they so desperately need," emphasized Kallas.

She also noted that discussions around unanimous support for new sanctions are ongoing.

"Putin is simply mocking any peace efforts that are being made. So we need to increase pressure on Russia," she added.

What is known about the 19th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation

Earlier, it became known that the European Union is preparing the 19th package of sanctions against Russia since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine.

Against the backdrop of this process, Ukraine handed over to Brussels its proposals regarding what should be included in the new list of restrictive measures, said Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the authorized representative for sanctions.

It is noted that the 19th package of sanctions, which is to be presented already in September, is aimed at the shadow fleet and companies that help Russia bypass restrictions.

The most painful for Moscow may be secondary sanctions – against companies or countries that do business with the Russian Federation, but the United States creates the real impact on the Kremlin’s economy.
